Leading Media, Communications & Information Investment Bank Continues Recent Growth
NEW YORK, March 16, 2009 - Garrett M. Baker has been named President of Waller Capital Partners, LLC, the leading independent Investment Bank focused on the media, communications & information industries.
Chairman John W. Waller III, who founded Waller Capital in 1982, said, “Garrett has been a leader of our firm for over a decade, and we are thrilled he will be taking a greater role. He has proven himself successful in building long-term client relationships, completing complex transactions and working tirelessly to grow our firm. Garrett has consistently been the most active and successful M&A advisor in the cable sector, and we look forward to continuing our success together.” Mr. Baker joined the firm in 1998, after working in the M&A and Restructuring groups at Bear, Stearns & Co. He has led Waller Capital’s cable efforts since 2003, during which time the firm has been the clear leader in M&A advisory to US cable operators and overbuilders. In 2007, Mr. Baker was named by Multichannel News as one of the industry's “40 Under 40” top executives. In addition to his work in the cable industry, he also advises wireless and media clients, both in the US and Latin America.
Waller Capital also announced the promotions of Jeffrey A. Brandon to Managing Director, Kenneth M. Clausman to Director, Michael Cohen to Associate and Christopher Erwin to Associate. Mr. Brandon joined Waller Capital in 2006 from Bear, Stearns & Co. where he was an Investment Banker in the Media & Entertainment group. Formerly, he was an attorney with Latham & Watkins, and began his career in 1990 as a litigator with the US Federal Trade Commission. Mr. Clausman joined Waller Capital in 2005 following a career at Veronis Suhler Stevenson. There, he made principal investments and advised on M&A transactions in the competitive telecom, wireless towers, publishing, and other sectors of the media and telecommunications industries.
In addition, the firm announced last week the hiring of Brian E. Stengel as Managing Director (www.wallercc.com/news_article.asp?i=133&p). Mr. Stengel joined from Morgan Stanley to lead Waller's growing Digital Media practice, continuing Waller Capital’s strategy of building out its M&A Advisory team with seasoned Wall Street talent and further expanding into new, complimentary sectors.
